Before retiring as Head of the Department of English of the Government College for Women, Thiruvananthapuram, Prof P. Vijaya Kumar taught English at different Government colleges in Kerala.
He was the founder president of ACERS (The Arts College English Rhetoric Society) from 1983 to 1987 and teacher-guide of The Tin Drums, Government College for Women from 1987 to 1991, both of which were involved in meaningful extra-curricular activities.
