Sinnu Susan Thomas received the B.E. (Hons.) degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering from Rajasthan University Jaipur and the M.Tech. Degree in Communication Engineering from National Institute of Technology Karnataka Surathkal, and the PhD degree in Electrical Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur. Her Ph.D. thesis was entitled “Perceptual Attributes in Video Summarization”, where she worked on summarizing videos based on the human visual perspective.
She was awarded with the Gandhian Young Technological Innovation Award 2018 and Best Thesis Award at CICT 2018. She was nominated for Ranjan Kumar Memorial award 2018 by IIT Kanpur and was a finalist for Falling Wall Labs, Leuven Belgium.
She was working at Viswajyothi College of Engineering and Technology Muvattupuzha and subsequently worked as a Post Doctoral Research Associate with Department of Electrical Engineering KU Leuven Belgium in collaboration with FORD Innovation and Research Centre Germany and USA. During postdoc, she worked on designing front suspension for Mac-Pherson Architecture and studied the behaviour of massive stars in space using Bayesian Optimization.
Her interest lies in Bayesian Optimization for industrial applications, computer vision and multimedia signal processing.
