His research interests focus on the application of machine learning and deep learning for fraud detection in tax data and the identification of tax non-compliance, along with broader areas such as human-computer interaction, web engineering, database management systems, Cloud-Native and Distributed Systems, data analytics and visualization, user experience and interaction design, e-commerce systems, big data engineering, business intelligence, data warehousing technologies, cloud computing, internet security, ethical hacking, internet technologies, client-server programming, blockchain for business, and visual analytics for decision support.
Sanil P Nair is Assistant Professor of Practice at Digital University Kerala with over 11 years of industry experience in the design and implementation of advanced software systems and ICT-enabled solutions. His areas of expertise include distributed systems, service-oriented systems, cloud-based systems, operational and analytical data systems, geospatial data analysis, and adaptive web services. He has contributed to the successful design and delivery of more than 30 real-time ICT projects for international governments and public-sector organizations, in addition to several major initiatives for the Government of India and various State departments.
He also holds key academic/project leadership responsibilities as Project Director, Principal Investigator, and Coordinator of the Big Data Engineering and Analytics Centre at the University. Through this role, he leads the research and development of a wide range of digital solutions in tax data analytics, tax administration and management, intelligence case management, fraud analytics, and anomaly detection systems. His work reflects a strong commitment to applying advanced data-driven and intelligent computing approaches to support effective governance, compliance monitoring, and evidence-based decision-making.
His academic and professional interests lie at the intersection of applied computing, intelligent data systems, and digital governance. His teaching and research areas include machine learning, tax data analytics, web engineering, database technologies, human-computer interaction, cloud computing, and data visualization. He is committed to advancing practice-oriented learning and fostering the application of emerging technologies to address complex societal and governance challenges.
