February 25, 2026 2026-02-26 9:40MSc IN DATA SCIENCE AND GEOINFORMATICS
The M.Sc. in Data Science and Geoinformatics program is designed to equip students with advanced knowledge and practical skills to harness the power of geospatial information and data science in understanding and shaping our world. Geospatial information goes beyond simply identifying where features are located—on, above, or below the Earth’s surface—it reveals how places interact, connect, and influence one another, forming the backbone of informed decision-making and sustainable development. Today, geospatial technologies are deeply integrated across industries and government sectors, contributing significantly to economic growth and strengthening the broader digital ecosystem. As the geospatial landscape evolves, there is a growing need to bridge geospatial, digital, and user communities through collaborative and interdisciplinary approaches, since no single organization can deliver comprehensive solutions alone. This program blends geoinformatics with data science, leveraging data analytics and predictive analytics to uncover spatial patterns, detect anomalies, optimize resource allocation, and forecast future trends. Students gain expertise in real-world applications such as urban planning and smart city development, environmental monitoring and conservation, disaster preparedness and response, and precision agriculture. By integrating modern technologies—including IoT, sensors, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and big data—the program enables real-time spatial analysis and actionable insights. Designed for those passionate about data, technology, and spatial intelligence, the M.Sc. in Data Science and Geoinformatics prepares graduates to drive innovation and make meaningful contributions to society across diverse domains. Digital University Kerala has signed MoU on academic/research/consultancy collaboration with Prestigious organizations/departments such as Survey of India, Kerala Forest Department, Kerala Animal Husbandry Department, Department of Ports and Fisheries, Land Use Department, and Rubber Board of India
