The MTech Electronics Engineering (Specialization: VLSI Design) is an advanced, research-driven postgraduate program focused on next-generation semiconductor design and intelligent hardware systems. The curriculum combines strong foundations in nonlinear circuits, VLSI technology, mixed-signal and neural processor physical design, and chip verification with emerging domains such as Edge AI and embedded systems with ARM. Emphasis is placed on industry-relevant skills, intellectual property awareness, and collaborative group projects, followed by intensive research coursework and a full-semester thesis. The program prepares graduates for high-impact roles in semiconductor industries, AI hardware startups, and advanced research in VLSI and microelectronics.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
  • B.Tech/BE in EE/ECE/AEI/EI/Robotics/IoT or equivalent with 60% marks.
  • MSc in Electronics/Instrumentation with 60% marks.
  • CS/CSE/IT or similar computing focused branches are not eligible.

ENTRANCE EXAMINATIONS
  • GATE (Electronics and communication, Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation, Physics).
  • CUET-PG (Test Paper Code: MTQP05)
  • GRE (Code: 3457)
  • Digital University Admission Test (DUAT) for EE/IN/ECE/BME.
  • GATE Physics are eligible for MTech Electronics (Artificial Intelligence Hardware).
Minimum entry requirement

Entry-level requirement is a minimum score of 60 percentage marks OR CPI/CGPA of 6.5 or above in 10 points in the qualifying degree. Rounding off of marks is not allowed. 
Candidates belonging to SC/ST and Persons with Disability categories are eligible for applying if they have minimum pass marks in the qualifying examination. 
Socially and Economically Backward Classes (SEBC) candidates of Kerala State who are certified as belonging to non-creamy layer are eligible for 5% relaxation in the minimum required marks for qualifying examination, provided that the candidates have passed the examination.

Candidates who have appeared or are appearing for the final year/ semester examination may also apply for the PG Programs provided that they satisfy the following two conditions.

  • Condition 1 ‐ That they have appeared/ are appearing for the final year/ semester exam in full and for the first time.
  • Condition 2 ‐ That they have passed all examinations prior to the final year/ semester.

Selected candidates are expected to submit all the original documents of mark lists, degree/ provisional degree certificates, migration certificate, etc. within a date specified by the University. If a candidate fails to submit the original certificates as proof of their eligibility by this date, the candidate may be asked to discontinue the program.

VLSI Design & Verification: Roles as ASIC Design Engineers, Verification Engineers or Physical Design Engineers in leading semiconductor firms.

Hardware Architecture: Opportunities as System Architects or FPGA Prototyping Engineers, designing custom hardware accelerators for AI and edge computing.

IoT & Industrial Automation: Roles in designing smart, interconnected systems and Sensors R&D for Industry 4.0 applications.

Academic & Doctoral Research: A gateway to PhD programs at premier institutes.

MERIT-CUM-MEANS SCHOLARSHIPS:  Merit Cum Means (MCM) Scholarship (except that of Flexible and Executive Masters Programs) 20% of the BPL category students eligible for MCM Scholarship from the University. The value of the scholarship shall be equivalent to 50% of their Tuition Fee for all semesters. The eligibility shall be based on the annual income of the parent and the merits of the students.
